Eulogy
Today i attended a funeral of a 99yrs old lady. She was a faithful and super amazing Godly lady actually. As they were giving her eulogy, although the name God or Jesus was not explicitly mentioned in every single sentence, but you can hear and see and trace God's footprints in her life.
Her life was not easy, moving from china to australia as a single lady and trying to build a new life. And she got married to a later-depressed-gambler-sick man with 3 boys to take care of. It turns out that regardless of all the things that happened in her life- God is still able to use her remarkably. He used her to raise up three high achievers, smart and competent men while caring for other immigrants who too are struggling to settle in this new country. And she worked and did all of these marvellous works by herself. Her life was truly a wonderful testimony of God's grace and providence and of His amazing faithfulness too
And as i reflect back to my own life and see the small struggles that i'm facing and the many things that i'm lacking , i began to see how minuscule my worries and anxiety and problems really are.
I guess this is true that you will only fully see the purrpose of your life when you are dead. You will see the whole and make sense of it all when your life actually ends. Just like in movies i guess. If the movie hasn't ended yet- you can't really say that you know what the story really is about. But it is when everything is done- the hero saved the girl and then kissed or the prince found the princess and then got married, etc. It is that at the end of the movie that you can really say- waw that makes sense! That was a worthwhile movie! Or crappy movies - whatever.
Truly2 i am grateful for today and for this lesson that i learned. Which reminded me of what steve jobs used to say that you can only connect the dots backwards and make sense from it then. And let us not waste now that the future we may see a beautiful picture. A picture of how faithful, gracious and loving and kind God is.
That we can see how He connects the dots in our life. The pain and the joys and how He used them to bring us to where we are now.
Exciting isnt it!?
